Connecticut Flu Vaccination Day Saturday, January 27th

As the flu is widespread in Connecticut, the Department of Public Health is designating January 27, 2018, as Flu Vaccination Day.  Since the start of this year’s flu season, in Connecticut over 615 people have been hospitalized with confirmed cases of influenza and 21 people have died including a 10-year old boy. Director of Health at the Eastern Highlands Health District Robert Miller comments that “The first and most important step in preventing the flu is to get a flu shot! Flu vaccine can prevent and reduce illness related to the flu.”

The Eastern Highlands Health District is partnering with Hartford Healthcare at Home and the University of Connecticut Student Health Services to offer free flu shots this Saturday. 

Event 1: Open to the public- BUT CANNOT PROVIDE A CHILD’S FIRST EVER FLU SHOT(see your pediatrician for this)

Free Flu shots for adults and kids age 3 and up, as long as they have received the flu shot in the past.  

Saturday, January 27th, from 12:00pm till 3:00pm at the Edwin O. Smith High School Cafeteria, 1235 Storrs Road, Mansfield. 

Please bring a valid ID and your medical insurance card.

 

Flu shots will be provided free to everyone even if you do not have medical insurance.

 

Event 2: Open to University of Connecticut Students only.

Free flu shots will be offered from 8:30am till 3Pm at Student Health Services.
